philosophy konkani style..

konkani is a very philosophical language.. the words mean more than just their actual meaning.
in fact most languages are like that , they help u express more than what u say, but i have recently realised this quality in konkani, a language spoken by people in the konkan region. this language borrows heavily from marathi and from portugese, since goa [ the place where konkani is spoken ] is where the portugese discoverer ,Vasco da gama, first arrived.
Well so much for , the historical background. now here are a few of my observations..

Alcohol , is called 'soro' , pronounced as , sorrow. it's as if they mean to say," when in sorrow, u drink 'sorrow' " . Or maybe they meant to say," if u drink 'sorrow' it will only bring more sorrow" .
then there is the word 'begin' which means fast. it's like you want some one to come quickly, or do a job quickly, or when the web network is slow and you want your home page to open.. u say"begin, begin, begin.." meaning quick, quick quick.. :-) a beginning , the word in itself carries a positive energy.. to begin, to do quickly, to put things in motion...
and my favourite word, 'kaabar' which means finish. kabar in urdu means a coffin, or a death bed.. the end , the finish. the day is over.. 'dees kaabar jhali' .. so much pathos, so much philosophy.

maybe i made these mental connections , so as to learn the language faster, but i can'y help but think that maybe , these connections were meant to be made, and that we mean so much more than what we say..we just need someone to listen and understand.

5 Korean phrases every K drama fan should know

5 Korean phrases every K drama fan should know ./  5 k drama phrases which add drama in a Korean drama. Korean dramas or K-dramas are filled with sweet predictable clichés , scenes that are repeated in almost every other drama, because they never seize to bring on the drama feels. Are you a k drama fan? Have you noticed how some scenes and some phrases get repeated in so many dramas? Here are a few of my favourite Hangul phrases which help heighten the drama in a Kdrama. Orae-man-iyo / Orae- mani- dae This phrase means ; it’s been a long time. The first version Orae mani iyo is the more formal way of saying it.it is one of my favourite phrases, a fabulous drama building phrase, it could be used when two arch enemies meet after a long time , one grew up to be a sleazy lawyer, the other an upstanding prosecutor. Or two high school sweethearts with a heartbreaking breakup meet in their adult life. It is a phrase filled with emotions; be it a veiled threat , a sense of l
